More pics!

Buster is doing really well!
He now is 13 weeks old!
Still on his bottle of milk, his daily routine, although I'm progressively watering down his bottle as he should have been weaned 7 weeks ago!

Buster eats all sorts of things: oat, muesly, carrot, apple, rice crispies, special Ks, green beans, boiled potatoes, Marietta biscuits :-)
Fresh grass is the most important element in his diet and he's given plenty of it every day, two or three times a day.
Plus of course all treats from the pet shop including cereals sticks, banana or apple bites, dandellion sticks, fruit sticks, hay and so forth!

More pics!

Buster climbs over a Thinkpad bag but he's some difficulties in getting back down!

Zzzz.. asleep on my lap

Buster out for the count in the mornings!

Oh yummy!

Buster wakes up, belly up, on my lap..

..and decides to go back to sleep!

Zzzzz

He's still the cutest animal I've ever seen!

I'm in love with Buster!! I also read about him in C.O.
His legs are... amazing.
And you, It's good to know there're persons out there, who have huge hearts and take care of unfortunated animals.
Best wishes from Buenos Aires, Argentina!

What a fascinating story and what a sweet boy. You've done a wonderful job with him and I'm sure he'll continue to thrive under your care. The photo of him on top of the bag illustrates his long hare legs and body very well. He is very much like a rabbit and very different. I don't know if they can help you but there is a community of Bunny Bloggers and a good place to start is here:

Deb has all the different Bun bloggers and bun resources listed. Good luck!

I saw your history at Cute Overload. It's AMAZING! I think that it's awesome that people like you were the ones that found Buster, and that he found such a great loving family! Again, amazing job :) Give him a hug for me, will ya? Greetings from Rosario, Argentina

I second the "amazing supermodel legs" comment! There are few people around who would put so much effort and love into caring for a blind baby bun. Frith, the rabbit god from Watership Down, is certainly blessing both Buster and his family.

So adorable!!! Makes me want to run out and get myself a bunny.

Bless your hearts for taking this little bun into your home!

Greetings from Montreal Canada. This is just what the world needs every now and then, a heartwarming story such as yours. It's nice to know there are still wonderfully kind people who are willing and able to help out a helpless little guy like this. You are heroes. Good work ! I love your bunny !

just found this blog (appeared on cuteoverload). Lovely, sad...

Anyway, you have a wrong word in your blurb at the top of the page: I somehow doubt you meant he was emancipated when you found him. More likely he was emaciated? :-)

Thanks so much for blogging your experience with Buster. What a bunny! ahem, hare. It's a great story.

PS I have a Buster of my own at home and he's a disabled little guy too. Love 'em.

Glad he found you.

Greetings from California!

How marvelous that you and your family adopted Buster. How kind. What a handsome hare he is too! And he certainly looks like a good lap-bunny!

LOL! That's what I refer our cat Tiki as...my lap-bunny. As soon as I sit down, Tiki is in my lap.

Tiki is a rescued feral cat. One of the sweetest, nicest cats we've ever had. She doesn't like to be picked up, and will only sit with you if she decides to sit with you. But she loves to play.

Thank you for sharing your story and the photos.

Best wishes to you and your family.

Hello from Texas! I got here from Cuteoverload. Buster is absolutely precious. What a lucky little hare he is. Snuggles and treats from a big fan!

Reading about Buster makes me miss my bun. He was an albino Norwegian giant. He suffered a concussion once, but his was not from poor eyesight, but rather over excitement. He was "hippity hopping" around the house at high speeds and crashed into some furniture. What a fright!

Amazing story about Buster and I wish for you many happy times together. My Karat was a spoiled house rabbit, completely cageless. His favorite treat was bok choy. He ate it like it was going out of style!

Oh good grief my heart is completely gone to him! Beautiful boy! I've been told rabbits can be litter box trained. I knew a girl who had a pet rabbit and he made these adorable kissy noises when he wanted your attention.

This is a great story!

Something will need to talk over with your vet very soon: neutering Buster. Most hand-raised wild animals will be gentle angles - until the hormones kick in. Many a caretaker has watched in horror as their baby squirrel, etc turned into a viscous hellbeast overnight! You can't release him, so if you want him to stay your baby forever you'll need to take the steps to medically ensure it.

Andi said...

Isn't he just such a sweetie! You guys are so great for taking in the little blind baby!

Ippo456 said...

Aaww it's real nice of you to take him in.
People tend to ignore wild animals who have been injured.
There's a wild rabbit who happily lives in my apartment complex, until his leg was badly injured (probably by the mower).
It was on a Friday afternoon.
No rescue wanted to take him in, reason being that he's wild.
So, sadly he had to be put to sleep.

Adorable! I can't believe he grew from a tiny little puff of fluff to that long-legged creature in such a short time!

I'm another linked here from cuteoverload. I'm always a sucker for a bunny story (got one myself :D ). I wanted to give you an interesting Irish Hare story. http://www.medirabbit.com/Books/hare_about
_house.PDF I don't think the book is in print anymore, but if you have 30 min or so it's worth a look.

I wandered over from CuteOverload. I can't get over how quickly Buster's grown. I love the way he'll sleep on his back with you. Such trust!! You've such a big heart to take him in!

Unknown said...

I'm another guest hopping over from C.O. and I can only add to the applause for your actions. Wonderful job done for a blind creature who would certainly not have made it without your generous time and energy to make his world beautiful.
And his love and trust are his gift to you.

Go, Buster, go!

And, seriously, please look into what's an appropriate diet for him. Sounds like he's getting far too much grain, fruit, and other treats. A good high-fiber chow (NOT what's formulated for lactating does or rabbits raised for meat), abundant grass hay (like timothy) and plenty of water is usually best, with only very occasional bits of treat. He'll be healthier and will be with you longer if he eats right!

Thanks for your delightful blog!
