Thank you for sharing Buster and his story with the world. What a precious little bundle of life, love and fun! I am reminded of Kelsey, my cotton tail, rescued when he was only a few days old in 2004 from a dog attack that claimed his family. He sustained a bite near his shoulder which I believe rendered him disabled for life. He never sat up or hopped, but he never knew he had a disability and embraced life with a profoundly endearing joie de vivre. He championed through three major transitions, from mother's milk to regular food, any of which could have claimed his life as his delicate little system worked hard to grow and develop. At one point, he had a raging infection, which required me to lance, flush and cleanse his abscesses every day, all of which he readily allowed. He was almost 3 when he peacefully passed to the next life, a "ripe old age" for him. Kelsey taught me more than any living creature, how to embrace life despite extreme disability. We had a very special relationship. My vet maintained he was alive and thriving because he wanted to be with me. I miss him dearly.

On the bottle feeding... Does Buster still derive his hydration from a feeding bottle? If so, why not suspend a bottle, attached to, say, the side of the crate where he likes to nap, and maybe that will encourage him to drink on his own. Clearly, the feeding bottle gives him a great sense of security and well-being, so I would try and make this a part of his every day environment rather than wean him of it.

Kind regards,

Monique

My rabbit, Jiro, used to lick ice cubes if we gave him any. Since you mentioned that Buster ate snow, maybe giving him ice cubes or crushed ice could be the solution to his drinking problem.

Hello! Been following Buster for a while and we are big fans! We live in the U.S. (Florida) and have wild bunnies that take refuge in our urban jungle...hard not to just love those little guys!
On a separate note, we saw the photos with the tropical palm in them and wanted to let you know that some palms (like the sago palm) can be deadly poisonous to animals. Wasn't sure if yours was a real plant but you might consider getting rid of it as it may be a health risk if Buster ingests it.
Anyway, thank you for sharing Buster's story (and videos!) - always brightens our day to read your posts. Bless you for taking care of sweet little Buster!

Hello and Congratulations on Buster's birthday and your baby-on-the-way! You will make wonderful parents for your baby. Buster's health and happiness attest to that. I had a bunny family member for eight years (Bambi, 15 lbs.) and every time I see Buster it makes me remember him. Keep up the wonderful bunny parenting and take good care of yourselves as well! Your friend across the pond, Seanna in Colorado

Wow, I just found your blog today! You have done such a wonderful job with Buster! I too have a profile on Bunspace and I will ask to be your friend! Benji is my name and BIN started with the need to have my right eye removed. Here is my blog
http://benjisjourney.blogspot.com/
I guess I should write something on it. Haven't really since I recovered from the surgery!
Anyways, keep up the good work!
Oh yes, about the "new addition" to your family. When is your mom due? Is it a boy or a girl? Do tell!

thank you for everything you have done for her.

I'm glad this little character got so lucky to be found. People like to justify doing nothing with the whole "nature's course" type of speech. But if you are there then that alters what "nature's course" is! This wonderful little girl got very lucky indeed.

I love following this blog!! This is the first blog I ever followed- I love Buster. Good job in taking care of her. It takes a lot of patience and kindness and research to take in a blind hare and raising it. All the best keep updating!

Hi there, I found your blog through cuteoverload.com and found it very touching. I have a very soft spot for animals and probably would have started crying if I were in your position and found a dear young bun like you did. I wish there were more animal lovers like you and your husband and I wish you all the best for the new year.
Much love from my partner and large household of animals and myself all the way from Auckand New Zealand!

Thank you for sharing Buster's life. It is a pleasure to read your post. Bunnies are truly adorable, lovely and fun to be with. Sometimes,I long for more bunnies in my rabbit hutches. If I could only have enough space for more and more bunnies.

I still check in once in a while, to see if there are any new posts - and to enjoy the old photographs, once again. When I'm sad about the way people behave toward each other in the world, it warms my heart to come here and see decency and love. And, to see that sweet bunny face. Thank you.

I guess we'll never know if the journey continues or ended here and continues on the other side.
